Open Position: Junior Entry Writer

Summary / Primary Role:
The Export Coordinator will service new and existing customer base. Assure accuracy and completeness of quotes, services, documentation, and billing for export services. The Export Coordinator must be knowledgeable in NVOCC services, providing quote and operational services for both tank and container shipping opportunities. Establish and maintain new export business opportunities from both existing and new customer sources. Acquires necessary documentation and direction in a timely manner to serve customer needs. Arranging and tracking logistic services that assure accurate and timely handling of product by air/ocean carriers and customs, FMC and CFR regulations, IATA, and TSA Guidelines. Oversee and monitor the preparation of documents and assures complete/accurate files.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for creating and transmitting entries for import shipments. Our ideal candidate is someone with 1-3 years of entry writing experience and familiarity with U.S. Customs regulations.
- Process customs entries and all other related government agency interfaces that may apply
- Meet service level requirements in accordance to the client standard operating procedure (SOP)
- Meet entry preparation and submission requirements based on client SOP, product service level and/or country and government agency requirements
- Prioritize work based on estimated time of arrival (ETA), product service level, workflow processes, last free day and transportation mode
- Classify entry per client SOP, Parts Database, and/or direction from licensed customs broker/classification specialist
- Enter required shipment data and customs data into the brokerage system
- Proactively work with government agencies and customs authorities to resolve issues
Qualifications and Key Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience as a Brokerage Customer Service Representative
- Must have basic user knowledge of computer programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook
- Complete familiarity with all the Customs forms inherent to processing Customs consumption or in-bond entries.
- Basic familiarity with Incoterms and Customs valuation.
- Ability to determine FDA product codes.
- Ability to research government regulations.
- Ability to obtain freight release from airlines, steamship lines, freight piers, truckers, and railroads.
Physical Requirements:
Employee must lift up to 30 lbs., sit for extended periods of time, stand, walk, reach above head for files, grasp, handle, and perform finger operations. Must operate normal office equipment such as phone, computer, fax machine, and copy machine.
Work Environment:
Normal office environment.
